My favourite look from the festival had to be the simple yet perfectly executed low ponytail worked for the Red Carpet Runway on Friday night. Philip directed the team of Redken Artists in a look he described as one of the most complimentary shapes you can give yourself if considering an up do. Considering the way the look held its own throughout the evening (and multiple changes/shows) we can see why this man is highly sought after both locally and stateside to direct shows for the whos-who of fashion.

What is Philip’s hot tip for achieving this look at home?

1. Make sure you use a tail comb to achieve the low ‘knife edge’ part worked on the models for the show.

2. Take it section by section starting at the nape and brush the hair applying layers of a working hairspray (we love Sebastian Re-Shaper for this).

3. Then get yourself a high quality bristle brush (we love the Taylor Madison Brush here) and use the gentlest pressure when smoothing over the last sections as this will keep the look natural and prevent you from brushing out your parting!

Now the look for the night was achieved using a piece of hat elastic, double-knotted and then cut to size, followed by the wrapping of a piece of the pony over the top to disguise the elastic.

Et voila! Fashion perfection achieved in the simplest of looks.
